Shapes and Volume

No sculpture this term so more life drawing. These are all 30 minutes in charcoal and charcoal pencil on A2 paper.

Gravity

Quite a few of the short poses were off true for verticals and the model would have fallen over if he stood like this. First a couple of 5 minute charcoal pencils.

Two three minutes, the second with the left hand.

Two continuous line drawings in felt-tip pen.

Long pose the model couldn't fall over as he was sitting down. 1 hour in pencil.

Blue Velvet

I forgot how long ten minutes was for the first short pose so rushed it without getting the overall proportions correct. Three 10 minutes, A2, charcoal pencil and charcoal (on the first).

Long pose I may have exaggerated the leg length and the contrast between the model and the drapery but I kind of like the result. About 1 hour 30 minutes, charcoal pencil on A2.

Yunnan China

Painting based on a few photos I took in China travelling from Tiger Leaping Gorge to Shangri-la.

Fighting talk

.. well the model looked like he was fighting himself in the short poses (or would have done if I had used larger paper). Two 10 minute poses in charcoal and charcoal pencil on A2.

Long pose I probably should have started something new half way through as the light had changed so much and I lost a lot of the changes in hue. About three and half hours acrylic on 20"x16".

Fleeting glimpse

Still messing around with this.

Attitude

Portrait session on Saturday. I should have left the painting after one hour (without lightening the shadows). About 1 hour 20 minutes acrylic.

Had another go which is more accurate for the model and also her pose (which did change). About 40 minutes charcoal/chalk.
